Joe Farrell
Director of Player Development U9-U12 Academy & UDP
Responsibilities: Development and growth of the Travel Academy, Recreational & United Development Program
Joe Farrell has been a major influence in the growth and development of United for the past 5 years. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable in the continued success for United FC. Farrell, a native of Scotland, was a former youth professional in his home town Glasgow with Clydebank Football club. In Scotland he was a National development coach with the Scottish FA and Glasgow sports council where he worked and trained with some of the most qualified coaches in the national system such as Eric Black, Tommy Wilson and Craig Brown (National coach). In the States Joe was a two time MVP and top scorer with Wallace College in Alabama and with that attended the University of Alabama. Joe’s qualifications include USSF A, UEFA B, NCSAA Advanced National Diploma, Higher National Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development and a degree in Sport Science. Joe is also a VYSA Central District ODP Head Coach and coaches the USL Super 20’s for FC Fredericksburg Gunners where he successfully lead them to the USL national tournament in August 2008.
Martin Dell
Director of Player Development College Prep Program
Responsibilities: Development and growth of the Travel College Prep, Coerver Training & Recreational Coaches Education Program
Martin, originally from Hertfordshire County, England, has called Richmond, VA his home since 1983. With over 23 years of coaching experience at the youth, ODP, High School, Collegiate and Professional levels, Martin most recently was the Director of Youth Development for the Richmond Kickers Professional Soccer Club and Head Coach of the Richmond Kickers Future. The Future compiled over 50 wins under Martin’s leadership during his 5 seasons as the Head Coach. In 2003 and 2005, the Future was the Mid-Atlantic division champion, and Eastern conference champions and National Semi-Finalists in 2005. Martin has also been the Director of Coerver Coaching in Virginia for the past 12 years and is also currently the Director of Soccer Programs for FC Fredericksburg as well as the Assistant Mens coach for Randolph-Macon College and the Varsity Girls Head Coach for Manchester High School. Martin has also served as a ODP Region 1 and Region 3 Head coach as well as a Region 3 Staff Coach, He was also formerly the Director of Coaching for the Richmond Strikers Girls Travel program and Director Of Coaching for the Richmond Capitals Soccer Club. Martin also served as an Assistant Coach for the USL Nashville Metros.
Cristian Neagu
Director of Player Development U13-U18 Boys
Responsibilities: Development and growth of the Travel Boys, Coerver Training & Recreational Player Development Program
A native of Romania, Cristian came to the US in 2000 to play collegiate soccer. Landing in Syracuse NY with Bryant & Stratton college he reached the NJCAA finals in 2000 and was crowned NJCAA champion/first team all American in 2001. Cristian then transferred to Div.1 power house Virginia Commonwealth University to play for coach Tim O’Sullivan’s Rams. While at VCU Neagu started 43 games and was named a Second Team All-CAA selection in 2002 and 2003. He scored nine goals and had five assists for 23 points. During and after his collegiate career, Neagu was a part of the Richmond Kickers Future (PDL) where he started all 59 games played over four seasons and recorded a total of 30 goals and 21 assists for 81 points overall. In his final season with the Future he led the team to a 12-2-2 record and the Eastern Conference title in 2005. He led the league in assists and finished second in points to earn PDL All-League and PDL All-Eastern Conference Team honors. In 2006 he helped guide the professional Kickers side to a USL Second Division Championship. He registered four goals and two assists in 14 games as the club dominated the league for a 13-3-4 regular season record en route to the title. In 2007 Cristian signed with the Major Indoor Soccer League’s Baltimore Blast. Cristian holds the Coerver Coaching License as well as the U.S.S.F “C” license and served as an Assistant Coach for Bryant & Stratton College and Virginia Commonwealth University . Along with his duties as the Director of Player Development for Boys U13-U18 for CUFC Cristian is the current Head Coach for the F.C. Fredericksburg Gunners in the United Soccer Leagues PDL.
Heather Pedersen
Director of Player Development U13-U15 Girls
Played Division 1 soccer at Eastern Michigan University prior to joining the USL W-Leagues Hampton Roads Piranhas in 2003 (National championship year!), and 2005. In 2004, played for the Detroit Jaguars of the USL W-League. Coached for Virginia Rush in 2005-2006 and 2008-09. Served as the director of youth girls for Colorado Rush Pikes Peak from July 2006-July 2008. Currently holds the US Soccer "B" License, and work with the Southeastern District and State ODP program as a staff coach for the 1994 girls.
